April 1st--Monthly

Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
April 1st – Happy Earth Day, Happy Passover

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.

My Thoughts: I have very sad news. On March 22, in Brussels, there were terror attacks by Isis. They said there are 31 dead in a bomb. When I see these things, my soul dropped. For those who know these people that are with God, I am very sorry. I do not know you, but I’m praying for you.

My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: Last month, a very dear friend of mine saw God. In LDS Religion, we believe we will see our loved-ones again through The Atonement. When we celebrated Easter, do we remember Christ or the worldly Easter? For me, I celebrated this holiday by recalling Christ. I think it was last year, when I noticed a telephone pole for the first time. Yes, I have seen it before; this time, I saw it through a poetic eyes and it stick. If you don’t mind, I would love to tell you what my poetic eyes behold. Look at a telephone pole, what do you see? Do you JUST see a pole with wires? On every street, you see a telephone pole. Right? If you take away the wires, what do you see? I truly see a cross where Christ sacrificed His own life for you and me. Ok, ok, I’m a bit odd. But, if you really think about it, He is everywhere still. He’s in a friend to talk or help you. He’s in a blessing. He is there for you in need. His love for you is sacred, precious, and real. For an example: I’ve been writing for 15 years now, and doing this business for 4 years, in July. I had NO clue or idea that I’m helping strangers through my unsaid words. To me, that’s Christ’s love for you. I know this is real and very much true that what I’m doing is God’s mission for me. He loves you beyond our knowledge that He sent me, an unwise, unable to grips on everyday things, speech impaired, to help you. Now, you’re thinking, “Amanda, are you ok? Are you on drugs?” I’m just fine. Yes, I’ve been learning to do this by Nancy Lowe. But, if I hadn’t seen her in Sunday School, I know without any doubts, I wouldn’t be doing this life-changing business. I know my partner, Eric, is a TRUE blessing. Because of Him, Eric wouldn’t be a partner and a lifetime friend to me. I know the Scriptures are true, and can morph people’s lives. I know Christ was on the earth showing us how to lived. I know President Monson is a true and real Prophet of Heavenly Father. I know Joseph Smith Jr. did translate the Book of Mormon. I know poetry is a gift from Him to give me a voice. I know every little thing has a reason. I know He lives. I say these things, in His name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.

The NewsEric learned a new style without me teaching him, “Dialog”. Also, I did teach him about colors, kind of. I truly believe Heavenly Father is helping me with him.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS: Eric and I discussed the prices. There are some changes to that. We feel it’s fare now. Eric created a paypal account for our business. The site is: www.paypal.me/prettypettypoetry. Please, send your money to this.
There are huge changes to the issues dates. The monthly will stay on the 1st on the month; but the others will be on every Wednesday. I’m not happy about this, but, I need to think about the future of Pretty Petty Poetry. The reason is, when I’m in heaven, Eric will take over the business, and he is prepared to take over. I’m praying this will be a very long time before he’ll take over.

Pretty Petty’s Poem for the Military: This will be a very special issue for the military men and women. If you have/know someone who is serving us, this is for them. It’ll be uplifting poems.

Angel Loves Poetry: 1-11, we’ll be doing Spiritual Poems.
Shower with Words: 13-28, we’ll be doing fan pick.

Poetry Workshop: There was only one person truly showed up. I taught her the basics and extremely easy styles.

What I taught on March 12th?
Basics: Noun, verb, adjective, simile, and metaphor
Styles: ABC’s and acrostic

What I taught on March 26th?
Basics: Pronouns, adverbs, prepositions, color’s meanings, and tone
Styles: Onomatopoeia

Remember: I’ll be doing this workshop every month: the second and the fourth of a Saturday. It starts at 7pm, MST, USA. It’ll be only two hours. Come for an hour of fun and learning. This is just for Facebook Pets. If you’re truly interested, let me know, and I’ll add you to the group. The time did change because I felt like I was rushing through things.

A HUGE breakthrough: On Sunday the 20th of March, I was getting ready for bed, and I noticed my left hand opened on its own. Usually, I had to work at it. Two days later, I moved my left leg upwards on my own. Doug, my PT, came, and my hand opened 4 or 5 times while he was here. I know this is nothing to you, the non-handicapped. But to me, it’s a huge breakthrough.

Pretty Petty Club: :( About the Club: It is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading. Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.

Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:

No poem. :(

Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.

Poem of the Month:

Free Me, Christ
By-Amanda D. Petty

Free me, Christ, from this pain.
Give me Thy strength to bare it.
Arriving, knocking, come rain.
Bequeath me, oh Lord, please, sit.

A pond, You cry for me.

Free me, Christ, from my sorrows.
Grant me power to overcome.
I say, “Look forward to tomorrow.”
Please, succor me to overcome.

A stream, You cry for me.

Free me, Christ, from my fears.
Untrusting myself, I do.
Coming a marathon of tears.
I cry, “Lord, I need You.”

A lake, You cry for me.

Free me, Christ, from my sins.
Temptations at my hand.
Obeying Thee now from The Inn.
Help me to understand.

A river, You cry for me.

Free me, Christ.

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.

Most of us have family in the Army. I have a few friends, and my two grandpas served us. This part is for you, the Military’s men and women. We can’t imagine what you see on the battle field. Yes, we have an idea, but no understanding. There’s a a gorgeous song, “Bring Him Home”. This always touches me because of the words. As a writer, I know firsthand, how difficult writing your raw emotions are. The lyrics are a sacred prayer.

Want helpIf you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
