Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter
February
1st, – Happy Valentine’s Day, Happy Black History
Hello
and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly
newsletter.
If there are blue
lines under sentences, it’s a link.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started!
My Thoughts: On January 4th, I watched CNN,
and I saw a glorious sea of
officers lining the streets of New York from the 50 states. In December, two
cops were slain in duty. I have a friend and my brother who are cops. This
sight of officers really hit home for me. It’s really amazing to see unknown
cops giving their respect to these two cops. For those who are mourning, I am
very sorry for your lost. I’m not just saying this either; I do mean it. I know
you WILL see them again. Yes, it’s hard now, and you won’t ever forget them.
God will heal your broken hearts.
My Spiritual Thoughts: The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: How can you tell
what a blessing truly is?
Last month, the High Priest and the Elder
Quorum came to put in hardwood floors in my home. These men were volunteers. I
wanted hardwood floors for years. We talked to my Bishop about doing this. I
realize to you, this wasn’t a blessing. But, the men did not have to do
this. Do you know why they did this? One simple but powerful word: love. Love
for me, love for Christ. When He was on the earth, did He get paid for healing
the sick? Did He get green for making the lame walk? No, He did it because He
loves His, our Father in Heaven.
I want to give my true gratitude for those
who put and help out; the movers and the layers. I am blessed to have you in my
Ward. You are saints. Thank you from the bottom of my soul.
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, I would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, I won’t be scornful. Just e-mail me at: prettypetty2010@gmail.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. I would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. I won’t put your name. But, I will put your religion.
The News: Nancy has me doing a few “Free Verse” poems with very
difficult topics. It’s called: “Calling yourself a poet”. This has 5 parts to
this.
Christ
and Me:
Nancy and I are making a Spiritual book: “Christ and Me”. This book will have
my Spiritual and handicapped poems.
Hang-Out
with a Poet:
Starting on March 20 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Utah, USA, I’ll be answering your
questions about poetry and me on Facebook, ONLY. If you have a Facebook
account, get your questions ready. I just need your Facebook name for this chat
room. Reply to this part, if you want to talk to me before the March 18th
or sooner. This is because I want to hang-out with my fans.
New
to the Site:
The sonnet styles are done. There are 6 new wallpapers.
If you have a Facebook account, and you got
an invitation to work for me, please decline it. I would never do that. Someone
is doing it, and not me. Please, decline the request. If you want to work for
me, you WILL be trained.
For the next few months, I will be posting videos
under, “My Spiritual Thoughts”. These videos will not be by me.
On the 19th, I got an email from
Eric Storey, the one who surprised me with “Hear Me” song, asking me if some
people can share “Hear Me” in their region. I had to read that email twice
because I was speechless. I told Eric that it will be an honor.
To be
totally honest:
I need to be totally honest with my Pretty Pets. This experience, “Pretty Petty
Poetry”, has become a wonderful, hard ride that I never knew about.
One of my childhood friends made me realize
how much I need this business. She posted my job on her Facebook account,
acting like she works for me. This, I didn’t know about. I didn’t train her
either. Plus, she can’t write. I was beyond mad at her. A few questions came:
why; and, how could she? So, I fought back. Now, our friendship of 24 plus
years is dead.
“Pretty Petty Poetry” is my life. I have no
backup plan at all. I’m putting everything in this. Some people see that, and
others may take advantage of me. I love, LOVE
making people have hope, strength for tomorrow, cry with them, laugh with them,
and “Pretty Petty Poetry” is God’s plan for me. I love being a poet.
German:
For
Christmas, Nancy got me “Rosetta Stone” for a present. The language that she
got is German. In a month, I’ve learned: numbers, colors, people, animals, and
stuff like that. I’m a slow learner at this stuff. I’m trying. It will take me
some time, but I will get this.
Poetry Reading: It will be on
Saturday, March 7th, at 1:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time). It will be
held at the LDS
Church in Liberty, Utah, USA. EVERYONE
IS WELCOME! Religion IS NOT a requirement. Come and enjoy
with us in a “poetic” afternoon.
If you can’t come
in March, don’t worry. There will be another reading on Friday, July 10th
at 7:00 pm.
About the Readings: The
reading is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour,
you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading.
Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we
have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again.
You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.
Your Thoughts: I truly want your
thoughts on this poem:
A Difficult Path (This Hard Hill)
By-Amanda
D. Petty
There’s
a path beneath my feet.
It
has hills and is very rocky.
I
walked this path every day.
But,
I don’t remember the hills or the rocks.
I
knew what it would hold.
But
today, I have no clue.
I
walked and walked.
A
tiny rock was in my shoe.
I
stopped and I took this rock out.
Some
of the rocks disappeared.
The
path was smoother, somehow.
I
saw a thirty-foot high hill.
I
was trying to climb it.
But,
I couldn’t.
I
tried and tried.
No
luck.
Thinking,
‘Why
can’t I climb this hill?’
I
had a feeling to say a prayer.
But,
I didn’t pray.
I
didn’t remember how.
A
voice said,
‘Just
ask for help.’
I
folded my arms and I asked for help.
A
hand appeared.
A
voice said,
‘Grab
the hand and hold on.’
I
did.
I
started to climb the hill again.
I
was struggling.
I
asked God for help again.
I
saw angels’ hands pushing me.
I
wasn’t scared.
I
climbed with the angels.
I
heard one say,
‘I
will help you.’
Another
said,
‘You
will get over this.’
After
hours of struggling,
I
was on top.
I
got down on my knees and gave thanks.
Poem of the Month: I
write two or three poems a day, and I want to share my best one of the month.
I got the idea,
for this poem, from a pop song. This is a few years ago. Prepare to cry. Enjoy.
I Will Protect You (I Will)
By-Amanda
D. Petty
She harmed you, used you, played
you, and even lied to you.
Your light was dim and the moon was
your sun.
Your eyes were broken and your heart
had tears.
You lost hope, trust, dreams.
Everything has changed.
You’re protecting yourself, and I
was doing the same thing. I know you’re scared to say but I know you. You don’t
have to be tough or strong with me. I will protect you. Sweetie, I’m not going
anywhere. I lost you once; if I lose you now, there won’t be life in this body.
I would go into hell and my heart will be a black hole. I wouldn’t say this if
I didn’t mean it. I will comfort you. I will ask The Lord for the right words
to make you smile. I will ask Him for the tolerance and thoughtfulness to help
you. I will ask God to love you as much as I love you.
There are so many words I can’t find
to tell you how much you mean to me. It’s like; Heavenly Father has given me a
sacred gift to have and to hold. I can’t imagine living without you. You fill
my world with joy, true happiness, real love, and deep faith that I didn’t
realize. My love, I will heal your scars from the others. I will be your
personal inspiration. I will make you laugh when everything seem to be depress.
I will understand you so well that you’ll think I’m in you. I will treat you
good for the rest of your human life. I know we were more than husband and wife
in heaven. I will be your cure for your unseen scars. I will be your key for
your unanswered questions. I will be your light in the darkest hours. I will be
your power when you feel weak. I will compliment you.
When you’re feeling blue, call me and I will come running to give you a kiss.
I will comfort you.
I won’t hurt you.
I will be your sunshine.
I will mend your heart.
I will be your hope, trust, dreams.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a
plethora of styles, and my ultimate favorite is lyrics.
Shayne Ward was like me, a no body. But, he
knew what he wanted. In this video, you’ll see how much he wants to be a pop
singer. Click on this link for a moving video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWSfBggWBek
This video really hit home because I know,
without any doubts, “Pretty Petty Poetry” is my true path of real freedom. Yes,
I cannot walk; writing and sharing my gift to the world is the freedom that
I’ve been waiting for. I do not remember my life before this business. You can
say my world has started on July 10th, 2012 at 9:00 pm. True, it has
its bad parts but I knew that already. I will not change that because it has
made me stronger and wiser.
Want help: If you want to help
with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! I am looking for some volunteers to help
with the desktop wallpapers and getting me clients. I can’t do everything by
myself anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is MY idea to do this business. Everything
you see is me alone with the help from Go. This is a part of “Pretty Petty
Poetry”. I’ve been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe,
from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more
information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
