Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
July
1st, – Happy 4th of July and Happy Birthday to Pretty
Petty Poetry!
Hello and welcome
to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a
partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.
My Thoughts: 3rd year in doing this business, and I truly thought I
wouldn’t last this long. I thought it would be a year. Now, I’m in my third year. Yes,
I could have quit. There is something keeps me holding on; it may be the love
and passion foe poetry. Or it may be you, pushing me with your prayers and
requests. For the first time in my life, I am speechless. Thank you, Pretty
Pets, for everything.
In a Year’s Time: A lot has happen. Where should I start? I had 30 requests and 3 on my
own. “Hear Me” became a song. Finally, I got a partner and a lifelong friend. (Eric
had his “test” client, that means, I set it up. He did ok: tons of mistakes. I
will tell you when he’s ready.) A remarkable year. Let’s see what the next year
brings!
My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon:
There’s a Talk by one of my favorite
Apostle, Elder David A. Bednar, talks about fear. I know I have fans that are non-members
of the LDS religion. This Talk speaks to every religion. While you read it, think
about your own fears, and how He can and will help you. Here’s the link: https://www.lds.org/general-conference/2015/04/therefore-they-hushed-their-fears?lang=eng
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.
The News: We are going to take 2 weeks off, June 29th to July 13th,
USA.
New to the Site: There are 8 new wallpapers.
The Video: I send out the video for “Pretty Petty Poetry”. But, Nancy is still
fixing it, and after she’s done with that, I’ll put something else.
Eric News: I’m teaching him about emotions for the difficult style, “Prose/Raw
Emotion”. He’s picking the styles up fast. He has a few more styles on our
site: Dramatic Diamante, Month Metaphor, Comic-Tragedies, and Letter Poem.
PT News: For those
who aren’t on Facebook, I took 170 steps with help. I did 20 bridges and 25 abs
work.
Every time I
walk, I feel free. I never thought I could walk. My legs are very weak. Before
Doug, I couldn’t stand for 10 seconds. Now look at me, I am walking with help.
Doug is a miracle worker! We kid around about his title: “PT= personal torture”.
Yes, it’s painful. But, I love this kind of pain. Doug is the best; he listens
to my body and doesn’t push too hard. I’m beyond grateful to have Doug.
Dental
Surgery?
I need to have dental surgery. The day and the time are unknown. It will be a
day surgery. Depending on what they need to do, I probably need a day to
recover. I will tell you the day. Eric is not ready to take over yet.
Because of my accident, I cannot swallow
like a normal person. Meaning, I have crowns. Well, at the end of June, my
crown came out. I saw my dentist, and he can’t fix them without help.
A
Group:
There is a Facebook Group for “Pretty Petty Poetry”. The address is: https://www.facebook.com/groups/prettypettypoetry. In this group,
you can post your own poetry. If we like it, we may use it in the weekly issues.
Poetry Reading: It will be on Friday,
July 10th, at 7:00 pm Mountain Standard Time. The readings are in
the LDS church
in Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one
request. If you come, tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies
of my poems to make.
About the Readings: The reading is
about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will
feel God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and after, we
say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience
that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a
poem or just listen.
A Special Surprise: If you
come, I will have a very special surprise for you. Warning, you need to bring
some tissues. If you want to bring your IPhone, you can. Believe me, you want
to record this.
Your Thoughts: We truly want your
thoughts on this poem:
This is by my
partner, Eric. Enjoy.
Freedom
By-Eric
Brown
The day that the world
Heard the shot around the world,
Is the day independence rang.
We are the true source of freedom
"America is the land of the
free and
The home of the brave."
The world looks up to us.
So we need to prove,
That we are the ones
To support freedom,
Not suppress it.
Live long live strong!
We are the ones
To help others.
"Stay free!"
Please, e-mail us
at prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.
Poem of the Month:
This is an old poem. Enjoy.
America
By-Amanda
D. Petty
Seeing
the American Flag
And
knowing we’re free.
Women
voters.
All
colors are together.
Choosing
your own way.
Freedom
is yours.
Seeing
the America Flag
And
knowing we’re blessed.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a
plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.
This month is the birthday of USA. We are
blessed to live in a free country. I know there are countries don’t the freedom
like USA. They are saying, “We are the land of the free.” In my opinion, we
are. We take our freedom for granted. I wondered, why? Have we forgotten what
our family members and friends are going through? They are seeing homeless
people every second, and we complain our floors aren’t clean. The soldiers, who
are fighting for our freedom, are the witnesses of our nightmares in daylight. I
have a few friends who are in the service. I want to say thanks to my friends
and those who are serving us. We love you, and God bless America.
Want help: If you want to help
with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help
with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by
ourselves anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S
idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from
God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English
with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah,
USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is
there.
