I’m Amanda D. Petty, the CEO and the Creator of “Pretty Petty Poetry”, and on December 27th, 2016, I made James W. Hill partner and the Co-CEO. On March 20th, 2016, Anna Shepherd joined the team. On December 30th, 2016, Abdul Sami joined the team. On January 18th, 2017, Tim George joined the team. On April 19th, 2017, Jasmine Mehndratta joined the team. On May 15th, 2017, Osinachi Emeghara joined the team. On May 23rd, 2017, Erin L. Maya joined the team.
My Thoughts: A year ago, I just had Eric, my ex-partner. The reason only I know. I want to thank our pets for support in these changes to PPP.
In a Year’s Time: A lot of changes has happened. I have a new partner, James W. Hill, who actually helping me running PPP. I have a wonderful team: Anna, Abdul, Tim, Jasmine, Osinachi, Michael, and Erin. I had two clients. We added three new issues: Shadow, SunLight, and Disney. We took out the prices. I lost many teammates too. I can’t wait for this business to grow even more.
To my team: I just want to thank you for everything. You actually taught me things, especial James. James, you taught me how to be a better teacher, teammate, and a friend. You saw me cry when Rick left, and you cried with me. I know it was God brought you back into my life.
My Spiritual Thoughts: A year ago, I went to The Temple and received my Endowments. That moment in my life has truly morphed me. It made me more wiser to people’s needs, more understanding, and it has made PPP stronger. Yes, it’s hard but I have a great partner, James, and a good team who has helped me.
The News
Poetry Boot Camp: I started a poetry boot camp for our new teammates. Collins, Erin, and Jasmine are in it. James and I are doing the camp.
Collins: I’m very surprised on how Collins is doing. He learned 7 new styles: ABC, Acrostic, Haiku, Contrast, Tanka, Letter, and Cinquain.
Happy Birthday: June 1-July 29, USA, we’ll be doing about happy, upbeat poems.
Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:
To Call This Home
By-Amanda D. Petty
Whenever I think of my flag,
I think of real freedom.
Free to dream,
Free to talk about religion anytime,
Free to do anything.
Whenever I think about the war,
I think about the families;
Not knowing if they will see them.
Soldiers are fighting for my freedom;
Battling for the rights.
Whenever I think of my country,
I see God’s hands.
His powerful hands are with us.
He won’t let us be alone.
Whenever I think about my flag,
I see love, The Lord’s love.
The forefathers and everyone before me,
Sacrifice their lives for this land,
And I’m truly blessed to call this home.
Please, e-mail us with YOUR thoughts on this poem.
Poem of the Month:
At a Ward party, I met a 4-year-old girl, Meriam. That Sunday, I waved to her, just to be friendly. Well, she remembered that. Every child is scared of me because they haven’t seen a beautiful woman. LOL. Ok, ok, they are afraid of my handicapped. I knew this already. There was a boy who was really scared, at this party, and yes, I had that before. It wasn’t new. When Meriam walked up to me, I was surprise. We talked and talked. She touched my life. Thank you, Meriam, for becoming my new friend.
My Young Friend, Meriam
By-Amanda D. Petty
Met you at a Ward barbeque.
Ate my hotdog, watermelon,
Drank my ice water.
An unknown little girl came in my life,
With her bouncing, copper her.
A kind wave has my eyes.
I said, “Hi” back.
“Hi, my name is, Meriam.
What’s your name?
“I’m Amanda.”
“Why can’t you walk?”
“I drowned.”
“Can you move?”
“Yes, I can.”
“Do you wanna meet my friends?”
I put my water on the grass.
She had a huge smile.
I turned on my power wheelchair.
“Come on, follow me.”
“Ok.” I kindly replied.
You walk and talk with me
Like nothing is wrong with me.
God bless me by this girl,
So caring, so beautiful.
Excited to have a sweet, little girl in my life.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.
I’m beyond blessed. I have some things to you…
Everyone knows that I have a sister. If you don’t, surprise, I do. Her name is Carrie. Carrie is doing something gorgeous. It’s a hobby but if you want some, she can make it. She makes bangles with charms. If you want to see these, a link is under “Pretty Links”; the last one. It’s ONLY on Facebook.
How can I express how blessed I really am? I have a hard life. Heavenly Father knows this very well. He knows my needs. He sends these incredible people to help me better. For an example: my family. I know people are not this blessed. My oldest brother, Sheldon, helps me. His wife, Tasha, helps me tons. Another example is my sister, Carrie. Yes, we have fights but that’s normal. I love my family and they love me.
Each time I hear this powerful hymn, I cried because it’s true. I have too many blessings to count. Thank you, Christ, for giving me angels as everyday people.
Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011.
