Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
June
1st, – Happy Father’s Day and Congratulation to the Grads, Happy Ramadan,
Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a
partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.
My Thoughts: Pretty Pets, this
business is not mined anymore. Actually, I love to working with someone. Yes,
it’s hard; changing everything; but, it is worth it. To my partner, I’m blessed
to have you. I’m glad that Heavenly Father chose you.
--
On May 10th,
there were two tornados in Texas, USA. I don’t know the number. But, these two
tornados cross 10 miles and destroy businesses, homes, and families. To those who
have loved-ones in Texas, I’m deeply sorry. I know you just want and need
everything back. What can I say? My thoughts and prayers are with you and your
loved-ones.
My Spiritual Thoughts: The
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: This is from my
church’s newsletter. I read it and it’s really good. Thank you, Brother Chet Stark
for giving me permission to put this powerful story in.
There was a
professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed atheist. His primary
goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester attempting to
prove that God couldn't exist. His students were always afraid to argue with
him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years he had taught this class
and NO ONE had ever had the courage to go against him. Sure, some had argued in
class at times, but no one had ever *really gone against him* (you'll see what
I mean later). Nobody would go against him because he had a reputation.
At the end of
every semester, on the last day, he would say to the class of 300 students,
"If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!" In twenty
years, nobody ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would
say, "Because anyone who believes in God is a fool. If God existed, he
could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a
simple task to prove he is God, and yet he can't do it." And every year he
would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it could shatter
into a hundred pieces. All of the students could do nothing but stop and stare.
Most of the students were convinced that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a
number of Christians had slipped through, but for 20 years they had been too
afraid to stand up.
Well, a few years
ago there was a freshman who happened to enroll in the class. He was a
Christian, and had heard the stories about this professor. He had to take the
class because it was one of the required classes for his major. And he was
afraid. But for three months that semester, he prayed every morning that he
would have the courage to stand up no matter what the professor said or what
the class thought. Nothing they said or did could ever shatter his faith, he
hoped. Finally, the day came. The professor said, "If there is anyone here
who still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300
people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the room. The
professor shouted, "YOU FOOL! If nothing I have said all semester has
convinced you that God doesn't exist, then you are a fool! If God existed, he
could keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit the ground!" He
proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his fingers, off
his shirt cuff, onto the pleats of his pants, down his leg, and off his shoe.
And as it hit the ground, it simply rolled away, UNBROKEN. The professor's jaw
dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man and then ran
out of the lecture hall. The young man who had stood up proceeded to walk to
the front of the room and share his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300
students stayed and listened as he told of God's love for them and of his power
through Jesus.
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.
The News: I’ve got an idea: if you are not comfortable emailing
me, why not you talk with me on Facebook. This will be ONLY for business. The emailing is there still. Now, you have a
second option.
Eric
News:
He’s doing very well. He reminds of me, a lot: very passionate. I think I’m a
tough teacher, harder than Nancy Lowe. I’m learning tons from Eric. He has more
styles: Question, Contract, Fairytale Revisited, Nature, and a Comparison on
our site. Well done, Eric.
Eric wrote a nature poem, but wasn’t an
actually nature poem. I thought of making a new style for this poem. I talked
about it with Eric, and the style is called, “A Movie Poem”. This style is his.
An
Update on my body: Since Doug, my PT, the pain is more bearable. I still
have pain. Before Doug, I took my medicine like it was candy. Now, I just
needed them at night. Within two months, I walked across my house, and it’s
difficult. I walked as a child after my accident. This time is different.
Somehow, all the prayers that you, my families, friends, and fans, are saying,
I ACTUALLY do feel them. Those
prayers give me strength to walk.
Can I be honest? I have the best fans that
I could dream. Yes, walking is my dream for a long time. But, I have a new
dream now. That dream is “Pretty Petty Poetry”! This business and everything that
go with it, is and will always be my heart. I can’t speak for Eric, and I don’t
want too. But, I’m changing. I can’t even tell you how much I’ve morphed within
three years. I’m truly blessed.
Poetry Reading: It
will be on Friday, July 10th, at 7:00pm (Mountain Standard Time). It
will be held at the LDS
Church in Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE IS WELCOME!
Religion IS
NOT a requirement. Come and enjoy with us in a “poetic” night.
About the Readings: The
reading is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour,
you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading.
Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we
have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again.
You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.
A Special Surprise: If you
come, I will have a very special surprise for you. Warning, you need to bring
some tissues. If you want to bring your IPhone, you can. Believe me, you want
to record this.
Your Thoughts: We truly want your
thoughts on this poem:
This is from my partner, Eric. Enjoy.

The
sickness,
The pain,
That I feel
Over and over
Again.
Washing
Over my body,
Aching,
Just living,
No matter
What I
Try I can’t
Change this
Sickness
That keeps
Me locked
In this body.
Glory in the
Next life will
Triumph this pain.
We are strong.
The pain,
That I feel
Over and over
Again.
Washing
Over my body,
Aching,
Just living,
No matter
What I
Try I can’t
Change this
Sickness
That keeps
Me locked
In this body.
Glory in the
Next life will
Triumph this pain.
We are strong.

Poem of the Month:
I did this poem for my dad for Father’s Day
a few years ago. It’s a shape poem, the hardest style. Fathers, this is for
you.
Thank You Dad
By-Amanda
D. Petty
I’ve got a very special man in my
life.
He has demolished my odious pains.
He has seen very graphic things.
Witnessing his artful nightmare,
a diabolical drowning accident.
He’s my timeless papa bear.
You have shown me how
to play, love, and just be
nutty. You are one of my
angels. I know you will
always be there. You’re
tough and intelligent.
I’m fortunate to have
you. You have shown
me how to work and
be patient. You are
sympathetic to my
emotional needs.
You’re providing me
with endless ardor. I
know why you tease
me the way you do,
and it’s fine. The things
that come out of your
mouth, make me truly
equanimity, and you make
me consider it. You truly have
emancipate my worries and
embellish me with your idiotic
remarks and tricks. You have
taught me how to think a head.
I really do appreciate every
little thing you do for me.
You are succoring me in
my being. I cannot
believe you. I
love you,
Dad.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a
plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.
In
the LDS Religion, we have a Blessing from our Heavenly Father. A Blessing is
very personal promise. I got mine in 2000. It says that “everything that I went
and going through will be my own good”. I did not understand that part. Now, I
do. I have no doubts about this business. The Lord has blessed me with the
words to bless your life. Yes, it is beyond difficult, emotional drained at times.
But, it has the best and greatest gift. Part of it, it is you. I’ve been doing
this for 3 years, and I’ve learned so much.
Eric,
I know my fans will love you. Thank you for teaching me about English and
patience. You are an amazing guy, and I am grateful for your friendship and
partnership.
My
fans, I’m just amaze. Even though I don’t see your face, I feel your love,
appreciation, and you took me on this lifetime ride to these countries that I
didn’t even thought of going. Because of you, I am an international poet. Because
of you, I’m living my dream. Thank you for being a Pretty Pet.
Thank you for everything.
I love you.
Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty
Poetry”, you can! I am looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop
wallpapers and getting me clients. I can’t do everything by myself anymore, too
stressful.
For New Comers: This is MY idea to do this business. Everything
you see is me alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty
Poetry”. I’ve been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe,
from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more
information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
