Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter
March
1st, – Happy St. Patrick’s Day
Hello and welcome
to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
If there are blue
lines under sentences, it’s a link.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started!
My Thoughts: Guten Tag, Ziemlich Haustiere. This is
German. I said, Good day, Pretty Pets. Learning a new language is difficult.
Before this, I knew it will be hard. This is overwhelming at times. This IS a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. God
knows that I can do this. A friend says that we have a reason to be on the
earth. I already believe that. But, this time it really hit me. I know I
mention this before, and I’m repeating myself. I truly, with all of my blood
cells, believe that I was made for this business. I feel “Pretty Petty Poetry” IS my home. True, it’s very
stressful, difficult, and I truly do love it.
My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon:
Life is busy. At an end of a day, it takes
a child to show what’s really important in life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3n-DOKBffuU
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, I would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, I won’t be scornful. Just e-mail me at: prettypetty2010@gmail.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. I would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. I won’t put your name. But, I will put your religion.
The News: Nancy didn’t teach me anything new.
Hang-Out
with a Poet:
Starting on March 20 at 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Utah, USA, I’ll be answering your
questions about poetry and me on Facebook, ONLY. If you have a Facebook
account, get your questions ready. I just need your Facebook name for this chat
room. Reply to this part, if you want to talk to me before the March 18th
or sooner. This is because I want to hang-out with my fans.
Poetry Reading: It will be on
Saturday, March 7th, at 1:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time). It will be
held at the LDS
Church in Liberty, Utah, USA. EVERYONE
IS WELCOME! Religion IS NOT a requirement. Come and
enjoy with us in a “poetic” night.
About the Readings: The
reading is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour,
you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading.
Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we
have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again.
Plus, it’s a blast. You can bring your friends. Also, you can a poem or just
listen.
Your Thoughts: I truly want your
thoughts on this poem:
I got this poem
from a friend. It touched me. Enjoy.
THE WORLD IS MINE
Author
Unknown
Today, upon a bus, I saw a very beautiful woman and wished I were as beautiful.
When suddenly she rose to leave, I saw her hobble down the aisle.
She had one leg and used a crutch. But as she passed, she passed a smile.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two legs; the world is mine.
I stopped to buy some candy. The lad who sold it had such charm.
I talked with him, he seemed so glad. If I were late, it'd do no harm.
And as I left, he said to me, "I thank you, you've been so kind.
It's nice to talk with folks like you. You see," he said, “I'm blind."
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two eyes; the world is mine.
Later while walking down the street, I saw a child I knew.
He stood and watched the others play, but he did not know what to do.
I stopped a moment and then I said, "Why don't you join them dear?"
He looked ahead without a word. I realized, he couldn't hear.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine. I have two ears; the world is mine.
With feet to take me where I'd go,
With eyes to see the sunset's glow,
With ears to hear what I would know.
Oh, God, forgive me when I whine
I've been blessed indeed, the world is mine.

Poem of the Month: I write two or three poems a day,
and I want to share my best one of the month.
I know you, the
Pretty Pets, don’t like disappointing peom. But, this poem shows imagnery. Enjoy.
The End of Me
By-Amanda
D. Petty
When you walked, you took my reason
for breathing. Darling, I’m just living without a purposed. In the sun, I acted
to be joyful, playful, joking; in my pillow, there’s an ocean, a Noah’s flood.
How can I move on when everything I
do is you? How can I forget everything about you when I ache for you? My Love,
I have a black hole for a heartbeat, for a heart is the hell’s fire, sucking
and burning me with every memory of us. My pains are truly the reminder that
I’m living. My ocean pillow touches my heavenly dreams where we held each other
forever.
When you opened the other door, you
shut my world, and no one could reopen, or come close, my life. Don’t you
understand that I need you? Baby, each time I think of you, my blood cells die
off.
This is the end of me.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a
plethora of styles, and my ultimate favorite is lyrics.
I’ve
been listening to “Hear Me”, and it has many levels to it. My
best friend and I talked about this song all the time. But, if you truly listen
to the lyrics, the last line, it says, “hear me, hear me.”, it’s Heavenly
Father talking to us. You’re saying, “it’s you that’s talking to Him.” Most
part of it, I am. If we’re hear Him, we’re getting help step by step. Yes, He
knows that we’re JUST human,
and we can’t do everything; but, when we open our “ears” to Him, we can handle
it.
Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty
Poetry”, you can! I am looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop
wallpapers and getting me clients. I can’t do everything by myself anymore, too
stressful.
For New Comers: This is MY idea to do this business. Everything
you see is me alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty
Poetry”. I’ve been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe,
from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more
information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
