My Life (A Strong Word)
By-Amanda D. Petty

Even since you came, I feel my life has lost its control; I don’t know from up or down, right or left. It truly feels like I don’t have it anymore. What I’m trying to say is very difficult. Please, bear with me. Father, I need Thy guidance.

Before you, the gates of cold fire had my soul, and they played hide-and-seek with my emotions. The devil was the one that I turn to for my contentment. He made love with my heart for years. I called hell my home. I thought that was my new world. How foolish was I? Now, I know. All the things that I’ve been through was truly preparing for you. For the first time in my short life, I can say this and I know the real meaning…
I depend on you to give me inspiration. You have given a reason to fight, to breathe, to dream. You are the most incredible man that I’ve known. You are willing to take on my countless needs and make them yours. Saying to me, “I can’t leave you.” and “I’m not running.” Those words mean more than you will ever know. Those words bring me home. I’m finally home. That’s why making a strong vow terrify me to death; but I’m going to do it…

Sweet Dear, this is a very strong word that I’ll make between you and God. I will not go anywhere without you. I will be honest and so faithful. I will be in you as well you are in me. I will give you passion like you don’t ever known. Baby, you’ve completely morphed my entire life with “I love you.” You do not care about my handicapped; you see the true me, a real woman. I will try my best to take care of you.

More Than Poetry: We take “Pretty Petty Poetry” very, very seriously. Some people think poetry is very “old fashioned”, boring, and not that interesting. We can understand. To us, poetry is the true heart of a person. Amanda describes it as: lyrics without any music.
