Pretty Petty’s Poem of the Week
Hello
Pretty Pets, welcome to the “Pretty Petty’s Poem of the Week” issue. This will
be a weekly issue. We are Amanda D. Petty and Eric Brown, and we’re poets. This
will show off our diversion of our poetry. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.
If you want more information, go to: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com.
This poem is about my grandpa. I’ve been
thinking about him lately. He passed away four years ago. Grandpa, this is for
you.
My Garlic Hugs
By-Amanda
D. Petty
You wore blue overalls.
You played my song.
Your voice was like a Milky Way,
Very sweet, but also mine.
Your touch was like a stuffed teddy
bear,
So gentle, but also important to my
heart.
Your hugs were like homemade soup,
Exceedingly healthy, and yet I
missed them.
When there’s garlic in the air,
I think of my grandpa.
You were my friend.
You were there for me.
You loved your dogs and your family.
You and I were close.
I miss my garlic hugs.
More Than Poetry: We
take “Pretty Petty Poetry” very, very seriously. Some people think poetry is
very “old fashioned”, boring, and not that interesting. We can understand. To
us, poetry is the true heart of a person.
Amanda
describes it as: lyrics without any music. Because of my speech, I can’t talk
fast or normal; discovering poetry has really opened me up.
