May--Monthly

Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
May 1st, – Happy Mother’s Day, Happy Cinco de Mayo,

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.

My Thoughts: Is it funny how your past becomes your future? Well, this happen to me on April 15. One of my friends made a Facebook chat room where EVERYONE that I knew from Basic High could be together. I had no idea about this. So when I figured what’s going on, I had mix emotions about it because I reunited with my other friends from my childhood and I lost their friendships. But, this group has over a dozen people. One friend mentioned my bad days in high school, and I started to laugh. I need to give them a shot out: Megan, James, Hiram, Rick, and all of my old friends, thank you for being my real friends. You guys are the best.

My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: Lately, I’ve been thinking about the word: “Lost”. My mom and I watched a show where a child has been up for an adoption for a good reason, but they adopted boy or girl don’t know why. The child has these unanswered questions. This show made me think about being lost in this world.

I know I mention this topic before a few years ago. But, I’m getting a strong impression that I should talk about this again. I find this, and I think it fit. Enjoy.

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.

The News: Eric and I want to wish all women a Happy Mother’s Day.

Blooming with A Poem: 1-29, you pick the subject for us to write.

VERY IMPORTANT NEWS: There will be huge changes coming. More information coming in the months ahead. Stay turn for what the changes are.

Poetry Workshop: it was very good, both weeks. We had one person who really showed up. If you want to join, tell me and I’ll add you to group. This is on Facebook, ONLY. We had a blast. It’s an hour long, 7pm, MST, or Utah time.
On the 16th, we learned: cinquain, 2 poetry terms, and how a single word can change the tone of the poem.
On the 30th, we learned: 4 words and a poetry style.

(Kind of) WONDERFUL News: I went in for my body test on April 19th, and they saw nothing wrong. My back looks fine and all. On the other hand, I’m still in pain. But, I’m on new medicine that is helping tons. I’m in less pain with this new medicine. On that note…

Pretty Petty Club: I’ll be opening the club… the date is unknown. Anyone and everyone is welcome. It will be at the LDS Church. Click here for the directions: https://www.google.com/maps/place/4279+N+3300+E,+Eden,+UT+84310/@41.3360943,-111.8709442,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m2!3m1!1s0x87530aa2d4ae31dd:0x7d54f3c7ecfc6d52?hl=en. If you want to bring a poem, you can! Also, if you want to bring a friend, you can.
About the Club: It is about an our long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading. Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.

Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:

No poem. We’re sorry. We’ll let your mind rest for this month. :)

Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.

Poem of the Month: This month is about motherhood. I wrote this a few years back. Enjoy.

Showing Me
By-Amanda D. Petty

Showing me the way to Heavenly Father;
Teaching me His words and living by His examples.

Holding my hand when fear entered my eyes;
Saying, “It’s alright.”

Giving me comfort when I feel low;
Asking for a hug, you give me one.

Wiping my tears away;
Telling me, “It’s ok.”

Dancing and singing with me;
Pretending, we’re super stars.

Succoring you, trying my best;
Encouraging me to attempt it.

Helping me to know Christ better;
Tutoring me to walk by faith.

Comprehending my pains;
Providing me strength to push on.

Viewing the love in your eyes;
Very proud to call you, my mother.

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.

Many people, right off, know their destiny. For me, I didn’t find it until I was 18 years old. Yes, it’s terrify to put yourself out there. I thought my poetry wasn’t good enough. I was truly scared of showing everyone my heart. I was afraid of rejection. I was beyond frightened. But then, something inside of me was telling to “Do it, just do it. Stop listening to crowd and follow your heart and Me.” I was fighting with myself for years. Then I got the courage to do this business, and I haven’t look back. Here’s a song that touched my spirit’s heart. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YWdFIaLBMFc

Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
