Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
October 1st,
– Happy Halloween
Hello and welcome to
Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
If there are lines
under sentences, it’s a link.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started!
My Thoughts: In September 11th,
I had to give my dog, Shadow, to God because of old age. I had her for 14
years. Yes, I am sad but I know I will see her again. Farewell my sweet Shadow,
I love you.
A childhood friend asked, “Did you get your book?” To those who
are wondering the same question, no not yet. But, I will, I promise. It’s a
long, hard process. I am planning on publishing 5 or 6 books. I don’t know when
that will be. Pretty Pets, I will do this. Call me crazy, but I will do
this!
My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ
of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: I’m an E-Visiting Teacher with
a partner to the Sister Missionaries. In the LDS Religion, we have two extra
sets of teachers that come in pairs: Home Teachers and Visiting Teachers. Home
Teachers are two men, and they are for the whole family. The Visiting Teachers
are two women, and they are just for the women. Because of my situation, The
Relief Society Presidency signed me with a partner to e-mail the Sister
Missionaries. In the September’s Lesson, they talked about Christ comforting us
when we need him.
There’s a very powerful hymn
that is my favorite: “Be Still, My Soul”. Whenever I’m upset or
depress, I listen to this song. Through righteous music, I feel His arms
hugging me, and telling me, “I will not leave you comfortless. I will come to
you.” (John 14:16) Also listening to righteous music, my pains seem to be
bearable. I know this is true because He said, “I will strengthen thee; yea, I
will help thee.” (Isaiah 41:10). I have this by my computer. Whenever I’m in REAL
pain, I read this scripture, and I know He feels my pain, and He won’t leave me
comfortless. I know Christ will succor you, my Pretty Pets, because He loves
you. That’s why God sent down Jesus Christ to atone for our sins, bear unspoken
pains, and when we need Him, He will show up in a family member, a friend, or a
church member. I have no doubts, without God, I know I will be beyond lost. I
know doing “Pretty Petty Poetry” is a blessing for me and to you. I love you
all, and thank you for allowing me to share what I love. I say these things, in
Thy name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
If you have any questions, feel
free to ask.
If you’re a Spiritual
person of any religion, I would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter.
Don’t be afraid, I won’t be scornful. Just e-mail me at: prettypetty2010@gmail.com, and put in the
“subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. I
would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. I
won’t put your name. But, I will put your religion.
The News: Nancy taught me a new style, “A Cycle
Poem”. It has one topic and one style; but it needs to be 4 and up poems in
one. She says that I’m getting good at the sonnets. Now, I’m working on a
ballad.
On September 5th at 3:30pm, I
got my “Tobii”! If you know me, the Tobii will help me. If you are a new comer
to “Pretty Petty Poetry”, Tobii isn’t a strong man. I wish it was. Tobii
is a communication device. I’ve got speech impairment, and “Tobii” will help me
to speak. I’m still learning to use it. Thank you, Mona for introducing it to
me.
I got an idea to make a short video about
“Pretty Petty Poetry”. Look for that in the coming months.
Poetry Reading: It will
be on Friday, October 10th, at 7:00 PM, Mountain Standard Time.
Remember: these readings are
for everyone. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church in
Liberty, Utah, USA. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one
request. If you come, tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies
of my poems to make.
About the Readings: The
reading is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour,
you will feel God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and
after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual
experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can
bring a poem or just listen.
Your Thoughts: I truly want your thoughts on this poem:
Handicapped
By-Amanda D. Petty
Let the sky cries,
Let they be jet-black.
Break my heart,
Tear my soul.
No freedom.
Let the ground swallow,
Let the flowers be dirt.
Slash my body,
Rupture my spirit.
Trapped.
Let the storms take me,
Let them burn me.
Destroy my life,
Hurt my bones.
Handicapped.
Poem of the Month: I write two or three poems a
day, and I want to share my best one of the month. I’m getting a very strong
impression that I should read the poem. I may pause in the middle of the poem.
I will do my best. Some words are hard to understand. If you have “Window Media
Player”, you will hear my voice. The audio will be attached.
No poem of the month because
I’ve been exceedingly busy. Sorry. :(
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry
has a plethora of styles, and my ultimate favorite is lyrics.
Most people will hate a person
that made a dastardly comment.
One of my best friends did that
to me, and I was very hurt. I prayed for some understanding for this comment.
Because of my sister made a fund site for me, he was jealous. He is a
poet/songwriter, and he is trying to publish his work. I had a feeling that was
his reason. He told me that, and I was surprise because I named my business
after him. You see, once you have my heart, I will be a forever friend. My
friend, after 20 years, you will always have my friendship. No matter what, “you’ve got a friend” in me. I promise.
Want help: If you want to help
with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! I am looking for some volunteers to help
with the desktop wallpapers and getting me clients. I can’t do everything by
myself anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is MY idea to do this business. Everything
you see is me alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty
Poetry”. I’ve been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe,
from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more
information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is
there.
The World’s Holidays: This will be celebrating all the holidays in the world. If
I miss any, please tell me.
