Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
October 1st,
– Happy Halloween
Hello and welcome to
Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a
partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.
My Thoughts: Bad news: on September 13th,
2015, my dad died from a massive stroke. I mentioned him in a June’s monthly
newsletter. Yes, I am very shock and sad too. He had heart problems. We always
thought it would be his heart. My whole family was up for his funeral, and that
was a crazy and good time. My dad taught me tons in my short life that I cannot
put into words.
My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: What is a true
blessing?
Most people will be
depress when a loved-one pass way. In the LDS religion, we believe we will see
them again. In my case, I’m looking forward to see my dad and my dog, Shadow.
Yes, I did say my dog. We also believe we will see our pets again. This is one of many blessings of The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
For those who helped my family in the
passing of my dad, I truly want to say thanks. Your prayers have been felt. The
Relief Society in the North Fork Ward has been greatly kind to us. They brought
us meals, and I can’t tell you how much that simple act mean to us. Also, we
had countless visitors; that, touches me soul. Thank you.
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.
The News: I've
got a tablet, and I just put an app on it that will ALLOW me to learn different
languages. I'm learning Spanish. I always wanted to learn Spanish because it's
so beautiful language. Plus, I know some people to speak it too. I know some
already.
Eric News: Eric had done an Onomatopoeia poem.
Pretty Petty Club: It will
be on Friday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time) in
Liberty, Utah, USA. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church in
Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE
AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one request. If you come,
tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies of my poems to make.
About the Club: It is about an hour long because of my
Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. If you want to
give a comment, you can. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have
refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You
can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.
If you come, please
bring your favorite Christmas poem. It will be a Christmas feel.
Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:
This is a deep, sad poem. This isn’t
about my dad.
A Headstone
By-Amanda
D. Petty
There’s a monument with my name.
I don’t understand; I am not dead.
But, my heart is.
I see you with her and I am numb.
Take my spirit, God.
My life is not a life anymore.
There’s a gravestone with my name.
I froze while you touch her.
This kind of pain killed my heart.
Why am I here still, Father?
Take me!
I don’t want to live.
There’s a memorial site with my
name.
It reads, “You are my angel.”
Reading those words just put me in
hell.
My soul is not is soul anymore.
I have no reason.
You took it.
There’s a tombstone with my name.
“Hello devil, I’m back.”
“Another loved one?” He asked.
“Yes, I’m here to stay;
Because, he was my heaven.” I reply.
I see your eyes, smile, and your
body
Just put me into the flames of hell.
There’s a headstone.
Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR
thoughts on this poem.
Poem of the Month:
This is so cute. Enjoy.
Here comes Halloween
By-Eric
Brown
The goblins
And the ghosts.
Oh my.
The witches
Casting spells
On the minds
Of the little ones.
Oh dear.
The werewolves
Have come to change us
Into them.
Oh no.
What shall we do?
Here comes Halloween,
Trick or treat.
The night is almost upon us.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is
lyrics.
My friend has a
talent or gift of singing. In my opinion, he needs to be a profession singer
and get a record deal. But, there’s a person between his dream that person is
fear. Fear is, to put it nicely, scary to face.
I know fear very
well. We met countless of time before. Actually, I’m facing it now, as I do
“Pretty Petty Poetry”. Yes, even though I created his business, fear is whispering
that I’m not good, I’m not good enough, and many more negative thoughts. But,
do you know what help me to get through that pessimistic talk? I have two
reasons: one is, you, the fans. Knowing I’m morphing your life is powerful. The
other is, Heavenly Father. I’ve heard a quote, “Fear and Faith cannot stand in
the same room.” I know that’s true because these two words or emotions are at
war.
To my friend and
anyone who is read this, BELIEVE IN
YOURSELF AND TRUST IN THE LORD. I know it is beyond difficult to believe in
yourself. There are doubts, frustration, worries, fears, and uncertainties.
I’ve been there. But, if you trust Christ, you can do your thing and truly be
happy.
Want help: If
you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers
to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do
everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business.
Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of
“Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a
professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011.
