Diamond night

The Birds have gathered in
Midsummer night competition
And me and you stood in the row
I'm a blue Bird
And you're a snow Bird
We set out from the foot of Rocky
Mountains and leaped across the
Black mountain heading to the top
Of Everest, to meet king Eagle
To test our wings
And to bath with ice
On mountain top!
But mountain storm came
And blew the other Birds away
But you and me stood strong
And reached the mountain top!
Then we set again from
Sahara desert spreading our wings across
The sky heading to Scandinavia
To test our instincts
But the sand storm came
And blew the other Birds away
But you and me stood strong
And reached the clod desert
And met Mother Snow Bird
And she took us for snowboarding!
Then the singing competition came
To test our voice
Against the long and lonely nights
And I took the stage quickly and
Sang and the Birds wept
Throwing flowers at me
But then your voice came
From the midst of the Birds
Singing like a Bird out of cage
And I lost my voice
And your song wet my heart
Like a dog nose!
You sang about the Diamond night
One perfect night in your time
The night you painted the roses
The night you fall in love
Then you sang about the purple night
The night she gave you her first kiss
The night she gave you her heart
Like a gift of pure gold
The night your heart wandered
In full moon in a snow desert
Then you sang about the sliver morning
That morning that she gave you her best
That morning that you dived over the
Rainbow and kissed the cloud
That morning that you plunge your
Wings in the warm snow
And splashed the waters!
Here are mine in my nest
Waiting for my diamond night too
One night all my dreams will stay true
One night the Birds will come together as one
And say no to racism
A night those black Birds will be free
A night black and white Birds shall hold hands in love and sing all through the night under the diamond sky
That will be my diamond night
Not the night I will be recognized
As a super Bird poet!

More Than Poetry: We take “Pretty Petty Poetry” very, very seriously. Some people think poetry is very “old fashioned”, boring, and not that interesting. We can understand. To us, poetry is the true heart of a person. Amanda describes it as: lyrics without any music.
