A Prayer for The Army
By-Amanda D. Petty
Darkness swallows my light.
Evil actions:
Bombs, guns, killings, I witness.
No more light.
Artful words spoken.
Go down.
I pleaded with tears,
“God, help. Give me Thy strength.”
~*~
Dear God,
As he goes to war,
Fighting for my freedom,
Protect him, watch over him.
Let Thy Hands be with him,
Be with him, comfort him.
In Jesus Christ’s name, Amen.
~*~
Feeling something new,
Love, peace, clamminess,
Hope comes.
Hell becoming heaven.
Slowly, I see good.
Slowly, I feel the light.
Thanking God with joyful tears,
“Thank you for the strength.”
More Than Poetry: We take “Pretty Petty Poetry” very, very seriously. Some people think poetry is very “old fashioned”, boring, and not that interesting. We can understand. To us, poetry is the true heart of a person. Amanda describes it as: lyrics without any music.
