Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
August
1st – Back to School
Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.
I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982,
drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic
Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In
2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought
of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty
Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a
partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.
My Thoughts: I went
to my nephew’s baseball game, and someone parked in the handicapped parking,
and this person didn’t have a handicapped license plate or a tag. I had to go down
the street to get where I was going. I really need to say something about this.
If I hurt your feelings, I’m not sorry.
YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TAKING A HANDICAPPED PARKING! You may
be the Pope or the Queen. I do not even care. What if, your loved-one was
disabled, and I took that parking. How would you feel? You are so artful, mean,
unconsidered, and insensible. Why do you have to, an able person who CAN walk,
park in the handicapped parking? You may say, “I didn’t think. I’m sorry.” THAT IS BULL! You did think; think of parking
closer to the building. Whenever you are, THINK
OF THE HANDICAPPED, please. I know it’s hard when the temptation is
there. We, the disabled, need that parking for a reason. I have to deal with
this crap every time I go somewhere. It’s crap.
My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day
Saints/Mormon: “Faith, what is it?” My Sunday School Teacher asked
the class. I know what it is; but as she taught us, a new question entered my
mind: what’s true faith? Have I seen it? I will give two examples, and you’ll
be the judge.
For 32 years, I’ve dreamed of
walking, feeling the floor, a very simple task. I’ve been praying for someone
to work with me. In March of 2015, an angel named, Doug Shepherd came. Through
hard work, I walked with his help. Yes, it’s so difficult and the exercises are
hard. In the end, I walked.
Another story is Eric brown and
this business. Before I even knew about poetry, I was looking for something to
do for a career. I prayed nightly. Then one day, a gift came. Over the years, I
developed it through prayers, fans, and the love. Two years ago, in 2013, I got
a very strong feeling that my life will be short. I prayed and prayed for
someone to take over. On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown has truly
answered my prayers.
These two stories have
something in common. Heavenly Father knows our desires when we don’t. In my
life, faith in Jesus Christ is everything. If we don’t have true faith in Him,
nothing is worth it. Christ is faith, true and real faith.
If you’re a
Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the
newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com,
and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry
Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month
or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.
The News: If you have yahoo
messenger, you’re in luck. We can talk business, ONLY. My address is: apet1982@yahoo.com. Remember, this is just for
business.
Eric
News:
July was busy for him. He did one style: “Form Changer”. For those who are new:
Eric is my business partner, and I’ve teaching him EVERYTHING about this
business: between the poetry styles to the wallpapers. Personally, this is what
I love doing. Teaching, giving my knowledge to my friend.
A
Nominee: On
July 13th, I got a Facebook Message from my cousin, Sarah Prince.
She’s a blogger of natural birth. Anyways, “Pretty Petty Poetry” was nominated
for an award, “Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award”. Sarah said that is just
a chain, telling people about the blogs.
To be honest, when I first read her
message, I thought it was a joke. I do not see myself as a professional poet or
none of that stuff. I’m just the tool; God is the professional poet and not me.
Poetry is a gift that I developed through hard work and the love of the art of
poetry.
Thank you, Sarah. But, I’m not worthy of
it. I’m JUST His tool. Thank to all for
the support in this ride.
YouTube Channel: I have a channel on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/PrettyPetty2010. I just have 4
videos on it, so far. One of them is me walking.
Eric and I Twitter account: Eric has created a
twitter account for our business. It is: www.twitter.com/prettypetty2010. Come and follow
us!
Facebook Weekly Poem: If you are in “Pretty Petty Poetry
Group” on Facebook, you noticed that I’ve been posting some of my poetry and
getting your thoughts on them. I like your comments. So, guess what? Every
Friday, USA, I will be posting my or Eric’s deep poems.
Dental Surgery: In October sometime, I would have to have
dental surgery. I have 3 teeth that have crowns. These are in the the very
front. One crown came out. My dentist put it back in. The dentist says that the
roots of the teeth have abscesses and will need to have root canals done before
getting new crowns. Also, another crown next to the missing one needs to have a
root canal and the crown replaced. Instead of doing the crowns, I need a
filler. The surgery date is unknown. When I know, I’ll let you know. I really
don’t know how long I need time off. I’m thinking about a few days.
In July, I gave
Eric a huge test about this business. I feel he can take over. He has my email
address. Still use my address, he will write you a poem. Eric just knows a few
styles, the easy ones. Please, do not request Sonnets, Prose-Raw Emotions, or
the really hard styles. If you could wait for these styles, I will write these
for you.
2000 Poem: I cannot believe this. On July 30th,
2015, I wrote my 2000th poem. I’ve got new Visiting Teachers, and
they are wonderful. This poem is about them. Linda and Chris, this is for you.
Becoming Lifelong Friends
By-Amanda
D. Petty
Seeing these Sisters at church.
Coming to visited me.
Enjoying them,
Getting to know them.
Laughing and talking,
Blessing in my eyes.
Feeling their love for Christ.
Thanking them.
Becoming lifelong friends.
On the reading: One word can truly describe
it, and I don’t really think it will do justice. The word is: miracle. I walked
into the reading. Yes, you read that right. I walked into the reading with the
help from my incredible PT, Doug Shepherd. He stands in front of me and holds
my arms, and I do the rest.
Also, Jake Martin, the one who sang “Hear
Me” in December, preformed my poem live.
This reading was the best, personally, because
I made the biggest dream come true. I will always remember this one.
My oldest brother and his family were there
also. We had 17 people: 9 women, 7 men, and 1 young woman. Eric Brown, my
partner, came, and that was special to me. I’m beyond blessed.
The reading will be on the site. Nancy Lowe
recorded it for me. You will see me walking. When you watch it, get some
tissues.
Doug Shepherd gave me a name for the readings. Now,
the poetry readings will be called: “Pretty Petty Club”. I know he was kidding,
but I like it. In this club, anyone can join. Anyone can bring a poem.
Pretty Petty Club: It will
be on Friday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time) in
Utah, USA. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church in
Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE
AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one request. If you come,
tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies of my poems to make.
About the Club: It is about
an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel
God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and after, we say
a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that
you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or
just listen.
If you come, please
bring your favorite Christmas poem. It will be a Christmas feel.
Your Thoughts: We truly want your
thoughts on this poem:
Sorry, no poem.
Please, e-mail us
at prettypetty2010@gmail.com
or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.
Poem of the Month:
This is about Amanda’s Great Grandpa,
Grandpa Webb. I do not knew him, but I hear stories from my family. Enjoy.
A Playful Cowboy
By-Amanda
D. Petty
A playful cowboy always had candy.
A playful cowboy loved to play.
Grandpa Webb,
Hearing stories about you.
Getting closer to you.
A playful cowboy loved little kids.
A playful cowboy made laughers.
Grandpa Webb,
Wish I knew you.
Sadly, no recalling.
A playful cowboy.
Lyrics of the Month: Poetry
has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.
Moments, what are they really?
Are they spending time with the people you loved? Are they time? I had a moment
that I won’t ever forget. You may think that I may talk about “Pretty Petty
Poetry”? You are wrong.
2013, my right leg started to
hurt for no reason. I tried everything and nothing worked. Have you tried
pickle juice? I do not recommend it. I even went to my back doctor. I thought
it was my rod. I truly thought it was a wire came unloose from my rod. But, it
wasn’t it. In March of 2015, I talked to a friend if he could help me. A few
years ago, I talked to him about my left hand. (For those who don’t know, my
left hand becomes a fish hook because of my SCP. Whenever I get excited, it
goes into a hook.) So, I knew he was a physical therapist already. My friend
gave me good advice. Flash forward to 2015: for two long, painful, and tiring
years, I had it. I knew I couldn’t stay like this: taking pills like it was
reeses pieces bites. After church, I talked to my friend. He came over. He
asked me: “Can you walk?” I knew I could. He got me out of my power wheelchair,
and I walked 5 steps: from my bed to my closet. That moment in my life was a
huge deal to me. That simple task of walking made me realize that I can do hard
things. True, walking isn’t difficult to the physical-able person. To those who
had a stroke, car accident, or sitting in a wheelchair from birth or an
accident of whatever, walking is beyond complicated. When my friend left, to go
home, I just cried for minutes. He gave me a gift.
Doug Shepherd, I cannot say
“thank you” enough. For 32 dreamless years, I DREAMED of walking. You are the best. I am actually surprised how far
I came in 4 months. Now, I am walking 170 steps. I do not have to dream
anymore. You have taught me that miracles are real. I’m just
blessed to have you in my life.
Want
Help:
If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for
some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We
can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.
For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business.
Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of
“Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a
professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011.
