Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
March 1st, – Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.

My Thoughts: I’m close to my sister and her two boys. We talked almost daily. She lives an hour away. Well, I called her, and she told me about a Disney Parade that’s online. So, I watched it with her. To be honest, I thought it would be chessy. But, it wasn’t. I was actually dancing in my power wheelchair. After it was over, she called me. We talked about it. I could easily tell that we made a memory together. “Peace! I love you, sis.” I tried to be there for my family and my close friends if I can.

My Spiritual Thoughts: I saw this on Facebook, and it touched me. Enjoy.

It’s important to notice others – especially when they’re special. Special can however mean a variety of things. This story is testament to that. It was an ordinary day at the store for one mother and her mentally challenged son. But when a perfect stranger takes the time to speak to the teenage son, it becomes a very special day for everyone. A day they would never forget. The man, named Steve, told the story through his wife’s Facebook page and the post has since spread like wildfire. Please read and share it so we can together make the world a warmer place. Here is the Facebook post: Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the store for her to get some needed items, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags, detergent and Clorox. So off I went. I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter, only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old. I wasn’t in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, “Mommy, I’m over here.” It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, “Hey Buddy, what’s your name?” “My name is Denny and I’m shopping with my mother,” he responded proudly. “Wow,” I said, “that’s a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve.” “Steve, like Stevarino?” he asked. “Yes,” I answered.”How old are you Denny?” “How old am I now, Mommy?” he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle. “You’re fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by.” I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone’s attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section. Denny’s mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn’t even look at him, much less talk to him. I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God’s Garden; however, “Blue Roses” are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn’t stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they’ve missed a blessing from God. She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, “Who are you?” Without thinking I said, “Oh, I’m probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God’s garden.” She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, “God bless you!” and then I had tears in my eyes. May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, don’t turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say hello. Why? Because this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family. From an old dandelion! Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. If this story in any way warmed your heart, please consider sharing it today. Remember. People forget what you said and what you have done, but not how you made them feel.

Are you a Steve that’s willing to talk to a blue rose or are you a dandelion that pass and don’t smell the rose?

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.

The News: There are 8 new wallpapers. Just go to “Pretty Links”, “Wallpapers”, and “New”.

Poetry Workshop: If you’re interesting in learning about poetry styles, you’re in luck. I’ll be doing a poetry workshop on March 12th at 8pm, USA. I’ll be doing this every second and forth Saturday of each month. This will be on Facebook, only. Join me for some fun, learning, and I can’t wait to teach you. Ads:
Kissing the Irish Poetry: 1-18, we’ll be do St. Patrick’s poems.
Lab Rocks: 20-30, we’ll be doing poems about animals or nature.

An Update on my body: This news is not good. I tried to walk before, and I was just fine. I could have walk a few 20 steps. But, on February 26th, USA, I took my final steps. When I took my last step, I felt a VERY sharp pain in my back. The next day was like when I had my 12-hour surgery.
At 17, I had a major operation to put a steel rod in back. Without this rod, “Pretty Petty Poetry” will not be here. My organs would have shut down, and I would be in heaven.
Flash forward to now: I’m hoping I’ll see someone to help me figure out why am I so much in pain soon.

Pretty Petty Club: :( About the Club: It is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. I usually bring about five poems to the reading. Anyone can give their feedbacks. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. Plus, it’s a blast. You can bring your friends. Also, you can a poem or just listen.

Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:

This one is a deep poem. Enjoy.

Sunshine
By-Amanda D. Petty

The clouds, cold gray rainfall had my soul.

No relief, just a flood in my heart.

Drowning, going under.

“God, help me.” I plead.

“Give me the sun back.” I cried.

Somehow He heard me.

Rain, dried up.

Clouds, no more.

Just see, blue skies,

Beautiful unknown flowers,

Sunshine.

Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.

Poem of the Month:

No poem. :(

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.

I have wonderful friends. They stood by my side through my crazy times, bad days, and silly hours. Lately, I reunited with one of my childhood guy friend. He came out of the blue. I couldn’t believe it. Now, we’re getting know each other as adults. My other friend got me some ice cream without asking her. I know I can call them for anything. I’ve been blessed to have great friends.

Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011.
