November--Monthly

Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
November 1st, – Happy Thanksgiving

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.

My Thoughts: The first part of October, in Utah, a poet disses a political party. They send these poems in their mailboxes. As a poet, I was beyond mad. I won’t tell you the words that were in my head. This IS NOT “Pretty Petty Poetry”! I promise. Eric and I will not ever do that to you. Poetry is powerful. It can be use for good or evil. This person uses their talent for evil. We, Eric and I, use poetry to help, give encouragement, and never tear a person down. Don’t let this evil person stop you to trust us with your feelings.

My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: I’ve been thinking a lot about this simple question: “What am I thankful for?” I asked Eric this question. The answer did not surprise me at all. He said, “Life, skills,” the same oh. Then I asked, “Why?” He said, “Because they shaped my life.” I wasn’t surprise by that either. Then I asked myself the same question too. You may think I would say this business. But, you are wrong. I’m truly thankful for one teacher that knows me better than I know myself. This teacher has been there from my accident to now. It has truly made me who I am today. My teacher is my handicapped. You think that I’m nuts for giving thanks to my disability. If you would think about it, you would understand. My teacher is beyond hard to please. SCP will not stop teaching about my life, how handle rough times, and depending on Christ when I am in major pain. He knows my needs, and He and my SCP has truly given me the patience. He has given me so much because of my handicapped. Yes, at times, I just hate it. But, I wouldn’t have it the other way.

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.

The News: There are 9 new wallpapers. Also, I made the wallpapers easier to find. They are in categorizes now.

The Missionary Issue: Eric and I have a new person to join the “Pretty Petty Poetry” team. Her name is: Valerie Fulmer. She will only do the Missionary issue. Welcome Valerie to the team.

Very important: Starting in 2016, there will be prices on the poems. There’s a site where you can now pay online. To look at them and how to pay me, go to our site and click on “Prices”.

Help wanted: Eric and I need help with two issues: the kid’s and the disabled. The issues are not easy. We have very high standards. The disabled issue takes raw emotions; the kid’s take a lot more than you’ll know. We will screen you. If you have Facebook, message me or Eric. If you don’t have Facebook, just email me or Eric.

An Update on my Body (not good): On October 24th, USA, I had a major pain in the middle of my back. I had my care taker look at it. She thinks it’s my rod. If you don’t know the pain level, 0 is painless and 10 is M-A-J-O-R pain. Well, I was at a 9. I was in tears. I took a painkiller. The next day, I went to church. 15 minutes before it was out, I was at a 7, when I was home, a 9. Yes, my PT knows about this. I keep him very informed on this. Doug and I aren’t doing that much. I will know on December 1st what’s going on. It hurts to hug, stand, walk, do bridges and sit-ups, and dance. If anyone makes me laugh in bed, it hurts. So yeah, there’s something wrong. Truthfully, I never had this pain before. I’m really scared if I need back surgery. There’s a possibility that I might need it.

A Tradition: Since 2006, Amanda sent out a Christ-Like Christmas Poem to the “Pretty Pets” through the email. Look for it on December 15th. These poems are very spiritual, and she love doing this.
Note: if you “like” our “Pretty Petty Poetry” page or the group on Facebook, We will not post it on them because we feel it won’t be proper. Please, don’t post this poem on your wall. If we see it, you will be cut off from “Pretty Petty Poetry” for good.
For those who don’t celebrate Christmas, don’t worry we won’t send the Christ-Like Christmas poem to you. We want to honor your beliefs.
We will still send a Christmas poem in the next month’s newsletter.

Pretty Petty Club: It will be on Friday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time) in Liberty, Utah, USA. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church in Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one request. If you come, tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies of my poems to make.
About the Club: It is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.
If you come, please bring your favorite Christmas poem. It will be a Christmas feel.

Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:

No poem.

Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.

Poem of the Month:

True to Myself
By-Amanda D. Petty

Lied to myself over and over again;
I said, “No, I don’t write.” to a stranger.

Kissed the lips of fear;
I said, “No, I don’t write.” to a friend.

Tried to break this wall;
I said, “No, I don’t write” to God.

~*~

Day by day, panic grew;
Exhausted from faking it.

Noon by noon, terror pulls me;
Diminished by pretending.

Night by night, horror holds me;
Drained from being a phony.

~*~

Enervated by faith;
Now, I say, “Yes, I do write.” to a stranger.

His Spirit in mine;
I say, “Yes, I do write.” to a friend.

Blessing lives with simple words;
Now, I say, “Yes, I do write.” to God.

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.

Many feel that you’re walking alone in this life. But, you’re not. Christ is walking with you, I promise. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QkZVvhfzgRE

Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
