Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
September 1st, – We will never forget, God bless the USA

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

If there are blue lines under sentences, it’s a link.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started!

My Thoughts: On August 11th, a brilliant actor died, Robin Williams, at 63. They say it was suicide. The true cause was severe depression. Mr. Williams wore a mask: he was a hilarious man, always happy; in the inside, he was despair, lost. He had a rain storm inside. One day, he couldn’t handle it. Farewell, Mr. Williams. We will miss you. To those who really knew him, I’m sorry for your loss. I’m praying God is comforting you.
The mask, I’m talking about, is extremely dangerous to ware. I have this mask too. There is no name for this mask. I describe it as depression. Depression will do many wrongful things to you. I have very mild depression; but in 2006 to 2009, it turned into severe. I wanted to die. I even thought of suicide. But, I had poetry to save me. My very good guy friend saved me through poetry. He knows who he is; but I feel I need to mention his name.
Rick, I honestly want to thank you. If I didn’t know you, I would be in heaven right now. Because of my second ex-boyfriend, I would write and write. I think I wrote ten poems a day; that what kept me sane. Rick, you’re my hero. Thank you.

13 years ago, the world stood still. I don’t want to relive that terrible day. Our own blood is in war because of that day. Two of my grandfathers serve, so I have a soft spot for those who are in the war. I’m praying YOU are safe. My hat is off to you.

A lifelong friend thinks I hate him or we aren’t friends anymore; to those think that, I am sorry.
This business is really hard. It takes a lot of my emotions. You just see the surface of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. There are tons that you don’t see; like praying, hearing the Holy Ghost, and know what and how to say things. I have to consider my friends: non-members and members of LDS religion, young fans, handicapped people, my families, and my international fans too. My schooling is difficult. When I get a client, my whole focus is on her or him. But, I love it.
My friend, why, on earth, would I hate you? You SHOULD know me by now. I have not change. “My love for you is forever.” I’m sorry that you feel this way. I would never hate you!

My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon: This month is sad because of September 11th, 2001; that day will go down in history as the saddest day. Thousands of families torn apart because their loved-ones are in Heaven. Where do we go after death?
In the LDS religion, we believe there’s an afterlife. The truth about this is, THERE IS AN AFTERLIFE! You will see your loved-ones again, I promise. I died when I had my accident, before I’m confined to a power wheelchair. I saw Christ. I have no doubts. I can’t remember what He told me, but I KNOW I TALKED TO HIM. Please do not ask me questions about this. This is very sacred to me, and I will not answer your questions about this.
We don’t stop living after death. Yes, our physical body is dead. Our Spirits still lives. Do you feel a ghost/spirit watching you? I, personally, believe those ghosts or spirits are angels. I know I have lot of angels in heaven watching over me.

For more information, go to: www.mormon.org.

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, I would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, I won’t be scornful. Just e-mail me at: prettypetty2010@gmail.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. I would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. I won’t put your name. But, I will put your religion.

The News: Nancy taught me the instructions on “Sonnet Sequence”. It is difficult. It has 6 sonnets and up in one. She also taught me “Sonnet Cycle” and “The Orpheus Sonnet”. These two sonnets are difficult! The Orpheus Sonnet is like a narrative poem. The sonnet cycle has 5 sonnets in it. I have to redo the sonnets that I did in July.
Last month, I said the “21 Sonnets” will be ready this month. It looks likes they will be ready in November, I hope. Trust me, you will see them.
You see, Sonnets are very difficult. There’s the feel, the word selection, and I truly want them the best.

Pretty Petty’s Poem for Missionaries: I will do an issue for the Missionaries of all religions every third week of a Friday. It will start on September 19th.
If you know a Missionary, tell them about this part and give them my e-mail address. I just need their Missionary’s e-mail addresses. The issue will be called: “Pretty Petty’s Poem for Missionaries”.
Families, friends, and fans of my poetry, please tell a missionary. I don’t care what religion they are, just get the word out.
If you want to be a part of this issue, let me know. Just remember, I’ll be focusing on The Missionaries.
This will be a huge change in my career. Yes, everything WILL BE the same. But, I will be more spiritual than before. Heavenly Father wants me to do this. To be honest, doing this issue will be a true honor.

A fund for my future poetry book: My unreal, incredible sister, Carrie Petty-Cottle, started a fund to get my poetry publish, and we need your help. The site is: http://www.gofundme.com/ddlw3o. This is my lifelong dream. If you read and like my poetry, please help to make this dream come true.
I truly want to thank my sister for doing this. Carrie, I am truly blessed to call you my blood, my best friend, and my sister. I’m truly speechless. You are unbelievable. Thank you for believing in me.
I will not let you and the Pretty Pets down! I promise. Please, share this site to EVERYONE, and have them help too. Get the word out.
Carrie and I thank you for helping us.

Pretty Pets, I need to give my true gratitude for supporting me in this journey. I am honestly speechless. When I thought of doing this book about six or seven years ago, I thought I was insane. I truly believed that I wasn’t good enough. I even push this thought a side. But, I had this voice keep on repeating to do a book. Now, I feel and see all the love and the support; not for this book but for my business, giving me requests, spreading the word to the world. THANK YOU to everyone.
I’m picking out the poems for my future book. Don’t worry, I will not put YOUR poems in, I swear.

An Ease: On August 21st, Dr. Lowe, Nancy’s husband, let me use “Pain Warnor with AcuKnee”. It’s for your knee. Dr. Lowe says that I can use it for my back. It has 4 pads, and you put these pads on your back. It sends you little shocks to the muscles. I had it on a few times now, and it felt weird. After I had it on, PAINLESS! Thank you, Dr. Lowe.
Dr. Lowe is talking to another doctor to see if he can help.

Exceedingly Excited News: On August 28th, at 9:07am, I got a call from the “Tobii”. I will have it on Friday, September 5th! I am bursting with joy. This will open a lot of doors. Because of my speech, people think I’m stupid whenever I talk to strangers. Now, I can talk with my “Tobii” to strangers and my friends.

Poetry Reading: It will be on Friday, October 10th, at 7:00 pm, Mountain Standard Time in Liberty, Utah, USA.
Remember: these readings are for everyone. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one request. If you come, tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies of my poems to make.
About the Readings: The reading is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.

Your Thoughts: I truly want your thoughts on this poem:

Drive Me, Father
By-Amanda D. Petty

Drive me, Father.
Take over my life and drive.

Guide my words to the people’s hearts.
Succor my speech from Thy Spirit.

Let me walk in Thy footprints.
Let me touch Thy hands.

Hold me in trouble times.
Smile with me in pleasurable times.

Dry my tears.
Heal my pains.

Laugh with me in hard times.
Love me when I feel forgotten.

Make me yours when I feel hated.
Keep me safe in Thy eyes.

Drive me, Father.
I trust you.

Please, e-mail me at prettypetty2010@gmail.com with YOUR thoughts on this poem.
Poem of the Month: I write two or three poems a day, and I want to share my best one of the month. I’m getting a very strong impression that I should read the poem. I may pause in the middle of the poem. I will do my best. Some words are hard to understand. If you have “Window Media Player”, you will hear my voice. The audio will be attached.

This one is an old one and a goofy poem. Star Wars fans, this one is for you. Enjoy.

I Come In Peace
By-Amanda D. Petty

Anything that’s loud.

Just say,

‘I come in peace.’

Then make a

Live long and prosper sign.

That fear will go away.

Does it work?

No.

But, it’s fun to be goofy.

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and my ultimate favorite is lyrics.
What about me?” I think everybody asked this simple and yet, powerful question.
My high school friend came to visit me. She told me about the “fix” prom that I went to. I’m hoping my guy friend won’t mind if I mention his name.
Nick has a mental disability. He was the prom king, and I was his date. Before the prom, Nick was bully because he was a “no one”. At the prom, Nick sang to me and everyone tear up. Why? My friend told me that it was the best prom ever in my high school. Why do you think that? My thought is about this is; ever through Nick was picked on, he shined at the prom.
Another example is this business. Before “Pretty Petty Poetry”, I was a no one. Now, I’m international because you believe in me.
These two stories have something to say. They are speaking about nobody turning into someone. True, it is very difficult to be bully. BUT, when you shine, you will be remembered.

Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! I am looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting me clients. I can’t do everything by myself anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is MY idea to do this business. Everything you see is me alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. I’ve been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
