Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter
September 1st, – We will never forget, God bless the USA, Happy Yom Kippur, Happy Rosh Hashanah,

Hello and welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter, and this will be a monthly newsletter.

I’m Amanda D. Petty. I was born in 1982, drowned at 22 months old and live in a power wheelchair, and I’ve got Spastic Cerebral Palsy on my left side of my body, and I’ve got speech impairment. In 2001, God gave me a very powerful gift of poetry. In January of 2012, I thought of writing poetry for other people. On July 10th, 2012, “Pretty Petty Poetry” has started! On April 7th, 2015, Eric Brown is a partner of “Pretty Petty Poetry”.

My Thoughts: Have you noticed your career or job started when you’re playing as a little child? When I was about 8 or 9 years old, I played office and put on these little programs for my family and dolls. I even had newsletters for the family, only. I didn’t know it then but it was preparing me for this business. Now, I’m doing poetry readings and everything. I guess, it was meant to be. Is it weird that doing this, “Pretty Petty Poetry” and everything that goes with it: emotions, newsletters, being patience towards the clients, and teaching Eric, come so natural to me? You can say that I was taught by Heavenly Father how to do this. True, it’s difficult. But, if I didn’t know what to do for this business, this will not be alive. Yes, I called this business alive. To me, it is. I feel, actually feel, Christ moving my hand to the keys. Because of my accident, my brain can’t process things as quickly like a non-handicapped person. But, with His Spirit, I’m making a secret dream come true. With Him, I am moving mountains. I have a deep quote on my wall, “Faith makes things possible, not easy”. I know “Pretty Petty Poetry” is true, real, deep faith. I know with Christ on my side in this business, His words are transforming people through me. I know the LDS Church is true, and I’m teaching you. I am beyond blessed for this gift of poetry. I know President Thomas S. Monson is a true Prophet of God. I know the Scriptures change lives. I say these things, in Thy name, Jesus Christ, Amen.

---

14 years ago, hell came to USA. I remember that day too. I was in my bed watching TV. Every morning, I watch the news. Well, the morning of September 11th, 2001, I thought it was a same morning. But, I was wrong. As I watched the events unfolding, I couldn’t get my brain understand. I still don’t comprehend it. I will not tell it because it still hurts. I needed my parents to hold me because I felt so cold and alone. I started to listen to Christmas music because I felt Christ’s love in those songs.
If you had a loved-one on that day, I am very sorry for your lost. I truly wish I could bring them back. Sadly, I cannot. My prayers are with you. R.I.P. Loved-Ones. We feel your sorrow.

My Spiritual Thoughts: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints/Mormon:

The Will of God has a different plan that we have.

If you’re a Spiritual person of any religion, we would love to put your thoughts in the newsletter. Don’t be afraid, we won’t be scornful. Just e-mail us: prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.com, and put in the “subject bar”: “My Spiritual thought for the Pretty Petty Poetry Newsletter”. We would like to have them before the 1st of the month or sooner. We won’t put your name. But, we will put your religion.

The News: On the 9th, I will have my dental surgery. Instead of a filler, I need an implant. I talked to Eric about it. He will take over “Pretty Petty Poetry”. I don’t know how much time I need off. I am thinking two days.
Pretty Pets, please do not give Eric hard requests. He just knows the easy styles. If you can wait, I will write the hard styles for you. Still use my email address, Eric will write for you.

Eric News: He did two more styles: Light or Dark and Vertebrate Poem.

An Unknown Helper: On Facebook, you have to pay to get an ad of a page to be suggested for “Likes”. Well, one of our Pretty Pets, paid for our Facebook page to be suggested. To this person, we, Eric and I, thanked you for this kind of support. I can’t speak for Eric; but, I can speak for myself. You are a very special person to me. You just built up my confidence to do “Pretty Petty Poetry”. Thank you.

Pretty Pets Chat: The “Hang-Out with A Poet” has changed to “Pretty Pets Chat”. Eric couldn’t make it because of his work schedule. But, we had 5 fans. I got to know the Pets better. We just talk, and some asked questions. The next Pretty Pets Chat will be next year sometime.
I’m sorry that it was a very short noticed. I wanted Eric to be there. But, his schedule wouldn’t allow it. But, I promise, next time, I will let you know months ahead.

ATTENTION TO ALL POETS: I and Eric are looking for help for the kid’s issues only. This issue called for teaching to the 8-21 years old.

“Pretty Petty Poetry” is a team. Eric and I talk about the poems, styles. I believe in being equal. 50% is mine and 50% is Eric. When we get someone, it will be 25%, 25%, 25%. We will help you. Such as: October’s issue: it’s about Halloween. The poem NEEDS to teach English. Also, it got to be light, fun. We will help you in learning the styles. Like I said, this is a team.

If you want more information, please, contact us on Facebook.

Linda Tolman: I asked my friend and my Visiting Teacher, Linda Tolman, to help Doug with my physical therapist. Because of Doug’s busy schedule, he can come only once week; and I need PT twice or three times a week. If you know me, I always follow the Holy Ghost. When I first saw Linda, I had a feeling to ask her. But, I didn’t know her. When I got to know her, I asked. She said… Doug will train her on September 2nd.

Pretty Petty Club: It will be on Friday, December 4th, at 7:00 pm (Mountain Standard Time) in Liberty, Utah, USA. If you want to come, come. The readings are in the LDS church in Eden, Utah, USA. EVERYONE AND ANYONE IS WELCOME! I just have one request. If you come, tell me because I’ve got a list to know how many copies of my poems to make.
About the Club: It is about an hour long because of my Spastic in my CP. Within that hour, you will feel God’s Spirit. If you want to give a comment, you can. Before and after, we say a prayer. Then, we have refreshments. It’s a truly spiritual experience that you won’t have again. You can bring your friends. Also, you can bring a poem or just listen.
If you come, please bring your favorite Christmas poem. It will be a Christmas feel.

Your Thoughts: We truly want your thoughts on this poem:

This is by my friend, Marissa Shepherd. She wrote this at 15. Now, she’s in her early 20’s. In my opinion, this poem is beyond her years.

Choices

Me. I am light.
I am darkness.
I am whatever I choose to be.
My life, a maze with which there is no end.
It twists and turns
and changes with every choice I make.
The walls rise high above my head,
blocking my chance of foresight,
touching the distant, unreachable sky.
I know only what I see up to the next turn.
Me. I am chaos.
I am peace.
My choices are my own.
My consequences mine to choose.
Inner demons creep and crawl in my darkest shadow.
It is my choice. Do I stop and let them come?
Or do I continue on through this maze of life?
Whispering voices echo all around me.
They say, choose this way, choose that.
Their whispers entice, but their purpose is clear.
They want what is mine, what I hold
And what I hold
Are my choices.

Marissa Shepherd

Please, e-mail us at prettypetty2010@gmail.com or pyroatfire@yahoo.om with YOUR thoughts on this poem.

Poem of the Month: This is by my partner. He wrote this when he was 15. Enjoy.

Angel
By-Eric Brown

As water falls
some say
it is angels
crying for us
in this wicked world.
Where pain
and suffering comes
full circle
all the time,
angels are our guardians
from the devil.
Who wants us
as a prize
to play as a puppet on strings.
We are a
heavenly being
that is part of God’s
great plan.
Satan is wanting us to sin
so that he can wrap us
In those
chains of hell.
If we let it be
God and us
can be forever one.
We can overcome Satan
if we rely on God.
We are a
promised people if
we want to be.
Satan plan is
nothing compared
the plan of God.
We are the true prized
possession of God.
We are the youth of the
promised nation
and of the promised generation.
Satan is working hard to
bring us down
so that he can make us as
miserable as he is.
Angels are watching.
Angels are
Our guardians
We are the
chosen youth.
Choose to be
righteous.

Lyrics of the Month: Poetry has a plethora of styles, and our ultimate favorite is lyrics.

I posted the video of me walking with Doug, my PT, on Facebook to just my friends and families. Well, I had 753 views and 5 shares.

I’m getting very emotional right now, please bear with me. What can I truly say? To those who are my Facebook Friends, I’m totally speechless. Seeing the support truly overwhelmed me. All of my life, I wanted to actually walk. As a child, I had a physical therapist. So, I knew, right off, what I was getting myself into. But, this, the support, over me walking, is… All I can say, thank you. Thanks for supporting me in “Pretty Petty Poetry”, my life, and my walking. I cannot ask for the greatest fans. Dreams DO come true!

Want help: If you want to help with “Pretty Petty Poetry”, you can! We are looking for some volunteers to help with the desktop wallpapers and getting us clients. We can’t do everything by ourselves anymore, too stressful.

For New Comers: This is AMANDA’S idea to do this business. Everything you see is her alone with the help from God. This is a part of “Pretty Petty Poetry”. She has been studying English with the help from a professor, Nancy Lowe, from Weber State University, Utah, USA since October of 2011. For more information: www.prettypettypoetry.blogspot.com; everything is there.
