Pretty Petty’s Poem of the Week
Welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Weekly. Every week, a different poet will write a poem. Enjoy.
WHY LABELING THEM?
Why calling her names
Instead of dragging her heart from the flames?
She was once young and innocent,
You sworn that for her you'd repent.
She grew and she became decent,
She richly welcomed you and you ripped her off every cent,
You used her then dropped her off from what she thought was love,
She's broke and couldn't move,
What is it that you were trying to prove?
Now that she can dance to your groove...
You gave yourself a permission to call her a slut!
You made her fall for you now you call her nuts,
And you weren't scared to break her heart...
I salute you, you played your part.
Why calling him names
While you can drag him out of his flames?
He had dreams...
Now between him and his dreams lies loose strings,
His mother's tears fall everyday from her pillow like river streams,
It's this sacred pain that stings...
You call him names like; Street kid!
He's just vulnerable a seed,
Yet you look at him accelerating his death to the full speed.
You're human too doesn't you heart bleed?
He got involved in drugs because you never listened when he wanted you to hear what he was about to say.
It all started on his birthday,
"21 the age of freedom" they say...
Today he curses that day.
Why labeling them?
Why it has to be him?
After labeling them do you think they would stand firm?
Her inner skeletons haunt her,
She might be your daughter.
He also might be your son,
Raise him well before his life is done.
