Pretty Petty’s Poem of the Week
Welcome to Pretty Petty Poetry Weekly. Every week,
a different poet will write a poem. Enjoy.
This is by our new member, Glory. I don't
understand this poem that much. He says that it’s a bit of Africa. So, enjoy.
Icarus
Never fall in love with the sun,
Or the moon,
Or any of the starry hosts,
That lace the sky's blue.
Never fall in love with the rose,
Or the purple hibiscus,
Or the tender ixora,
Or any of the wild orchids that arrays
the earth.
Never fall in love with the wind,
Or a sweet evening breeze,
Or the numbing blizzard,
Or the passionate hurricane
Nor any of the airs that cool and rip
the earth.
Never fall in love with the eyes of all
woman,
Or her heart,
Or her soft breath,
Or her soothing voice,
Or her curved breasts,
Or her alluring words.
Nor any of her qualities or she
herself.
My son never fall into the steel abyss
of love,
That leads you to a pleasant fall,
And you'll endure every whip of
your own fall,
With her eyes in your mind and your
head, all for nought!
Make her fall in love with you son.
